I took his measurements, did my research and, Thank You Tudor Tailor - was ready to begin. I made the original test Venetians exactly to his measurements and the pattern but we found he wanted some alterations, all of which made perfect sense to me:
- The fullness of the body of the pants as they gathered into the waist took away the overlap needed for buttons - easily remedied.
- The movement of the pants was great but he was really looking for a cuff at the bottom of the legs to help garter his socks. To accommodate this I needed to expand the bottom portion of the pant leg to allow for more fullness and add a cuff.
Changes made and new pattern pieces drawn I went ahead and made a second test piece. This test piece will end up being the lining of these pants and so we're not worried about waste. They fit PERFECTLY. Yippee.
Tomorrow I get to cut out and make the exterior of these pants and put the two together. My deadline is one week from tonight so that gives me plenty of time. He seems really happy with how they are turning out and that motivates me more than you can imagine. I'll post pictures of the finished pants before I turn them over.
