It may seem as if I’ve been completely unproductive on the Arts & Crafts front and I’ll admit that I’ve been more away from it than doing stuff but I thought I would take this opportunity to share what I have been doing.
In 2010, we were made aware that one of the neighborhood homes was expecting their first grandchild and several of us wanted to do something special. So we decided to get together and make a quilt. Since this was my first quilt and I was not alone in this first trek, it took a little longer than anticipated but came out beautifully!! Unfortunately, at this time, you have to take my word for it as I forgot to take photos before we gave it away.
We found the time together on the group project enjoyable and so when we heard that one of the homes on our block was expecting their first child, a plan was hatched … again! K & E did a wonderful job of finding the correct fabric to fit the new parents’ design scheme and we set to work. We finished hand sewing the appliques on this weekend and set about finishing it and sandwiching it together to send to the quilter today. This time I did remember to snap a quick photo and I’m hoping I’ll remember to get one of the finished project as well. But for now, here you go…..
The cars you see are individually appliqued in place and I’ll try to remember to get up close pictures of them too in the near future. But we had such a sense of accomplishment when we finished today. It always looks so awesome!!!
