garment making doesn't just go away overnight. Therefore, when something turns out just like the picture that I'm working from I get all kinds of excited. The yellow Italian Renaissance dress was finished in time for Protectorates and Crown Tourney and I'm pleased with myself because it turned out just like the picture. As you may recall I was looking for something that resembled the picture to the right.
Now there were some downfalls . . I still don't have a tight enough fit along the top edge of the collar and it gaps some. But I fixed the arms-eyes problem that I had with the green renaissance dress. One additional problem is that I underestimated the power of fit of my pattern and lengthened the waist . . which I didn't need so the dress is a little long in the body. Ooops. But I fixed the fit in the body from the green renaissance dress which means that this one fits tight enough now that although it will close in the back, it won't close tightly enough with a single shoelace style . . so I did single blue organza ribbon bows along the back tying it closed that way. And the finished product . . picture courtesy of Lady Arianwen (as once again I never had the opportunity to get my camera out of my pouch let alone stand for a picture). My husband and I are to the left in this picture.

And here I've cropped it, although upsizing didn't go very well.

Maybe this will provide a better view

I'll have to work on getting better pictures of the garb I finish in the near future so that these blogs actually show some progress. (smile)
