My projects list has been dormant for some time not because I've not been busy but because I've not been sewing garb.
A dear friend of mine had sent me a quilt square to personalize. She had sent 140 quilt squares (as I understand it) to a variety of friends and family for each person to add a personal touch. The squares were then to be sent back to her for assembly. And the recipient of such a diverse and love-filled quilt? Her son, who is currently serving in the US Navy and is due to be deployed to Iraq. Wow, what a concept and my mind went 8 different directions trying to decide what to do.
Then I received word that she was starting the assembly process and so my time to consider was over - a choice needed to be made! Thanks to my best friend who offered that I do a Sailor's Cross. Spectacular! So I did the embroidery, albeit quickly since I was short on time, and dropped it in the mail today. Here is a pic of the finished piece.
